Etherfields

Etherfields is probably unlike any game you have ever played.

Etherfields is a cooperative campaign game for 1-4 players that boasts a heavy narrative experience that includes over 50 hours of gameplay. This game is not for the feint of heart.  

In this nightmarish dreamscape players will use more than just their deckbuilding skills to further the story. Emotional intelligence, deduction, and observation all have a very key roll in the rules and how you will experience this game.

Part escape room, part deck builder; Etherfields employs a mechanic that they have affectionately termed "dreamcrawling".  

In Etherfields each player has lost their body, memories, and personality and exist as an empty vessel. Your character will be built slowly over the course of this campaign as you work together to find yourselves and remember who you are.

While this game is considered pretty heavy in terms of mechanics, the Awaken Realms has worked hard to have a very simple core set of rules that build over time in order to make this a very approachable heavy weight game.

The design of this game is next level. Rules seem to have no meaning as the art, game mechanics, and everything you expect from a game is turned upside down.

1) If you have a game group that plays on a regular basis and gets deep into narrative experiences for things like Gloomhaven you might want to check this out.

2) While this game doesn't rely on roleplay to be a great experience, you will probably get even more out of it if you enjoy RPGs like Dungeons and Dragons or Pathfinder.

3) Finally, if you enjoy Escape Rooms and Escape Room games like Unlock or Exit and you really want to take it up a notch then Etherfields will likely be a delight.
